Three trees long to be remarkable. Instead, they become plain and ordinary, and part of the greatest story ever told.
PALMDALE, CA, UNITED STATES, August 18, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Author Montrouse Washington has released her debut children’s picture book, “The Three Trees.” The book retells a story that has been shared in churches for generations. Three trees on a hilltop each dream of becoming something extraordinary. Instead, they are cut down and shaped into ordinary objects: a feeding trough, a fishing boat and a cross.
Each tree ends up present for a defining moment in the life of Jesus. The first holds him as a newborn. The second carries him and his disciples through a storm he calms with a word. The third becomes the cross on which he is crucified. The story closes with his resurrection.
“I didn’t invent this story,” said Washington. “It’s been passed down in churches for years. I wanted kids to see that even when life doesn’t go the way we hoped, God can still make something beautiful out of it.”
The book is illustrated throughout, with each tree’s future quietly worked into the artwork before the story explains why.
