Founded by board-certified cardiologist Dr. Sergio Sokol, M.D., FACC, the initiative will award $1,000 to an exceptional student who demonstrates an unwavering dedication to pursuing a career as a physician and serving communities through compassionate healthcare.

About Dr. Sergio Sokol
Dr. Sergio Sokol earned his medical degree from the prestigious Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University. He went on to complete his Internal Medicine Residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, followed by a fellowship in Cardiology at North Shore University Hospital. Throughout his distinguished medical career, Dr. Sokol has specialized in cardiovascular disease, echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology, serving patients in both acute hospital environments and private practice settings.
Currently, Dr. Sergio Sokol serves as the Chief of Cardiology at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital and maintains a successful private practice in Cedarhurst, New York. Double board-certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology, he has consistently been recognized for his clinical excellence, earning honors as one of Castle Connolly’s Top Doctors and maintaining active memberships in leading medical organizations worldwide.
Eligibility and Application Process
The scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors who have been accepted into an accredited college or university, as well as current undergraduate students, graduate students, and medical school candidates residing in the United States who intend to pursue a medical degree.
Selection will be based on an essay competition designed to highlight each applicant’s driving motivation, core values, and vision for healthcare. Applicants are invited to respond to the following prompt:
